01 — The challenge
Free content has to prove, page after page, that it can be trusted.
The internet is full of history summaries with no author and no sources, buried in ads. História Verso started as the opposite: a nonprofit encyclopedia, ad-free, with a source behind every claim. The writing was long and careful. What it needed was a site that lets students find a topic fast, read without getting tired, and see how world history and Brazilian history fit together.
02 — What we did
An encyclopedia that reads like a good book and works like an index.
We split the site into two tracks, General History and Brazilian History, organized by the periods students already know from school. Each track has a searchable table of contents, and every article shows reading time and source count right under the title. Questions pop up mid-read, with instant feedback. At the end: numbered sources and study materials. And a true-to-scale timeline shows just how recent written history really is.
- Two parallel tracks, organized by period
- A searchable table of contents for each track
- Numbered sources and study materials in every article
- A true-to-scale timeline

03 — The detail that makes the difference
Where the two stories meet.
The site’s promise is the world and Brazil, side by side. So articles get a “Point of contact”: read about the Age of Exploration and you’ll find a path straight to the Portuguese arrival in Brazil. Students stop studying two separate subjects and start seeing one story.

Not one came from a template.
Each case shows the problem, what we did, and the detail that made the difference.
